What kind of expediting vehicles do we accept?

A. Cargo Vans: 3/4 HD or 1 ton cargo van units. Long chassis expediters do best. Short unit cargo vans have a tendency to be under achiever's but we will accept (Built in sleepers shortening cargo space is discouraged but we will accept). Use the entire cargo area as a sleeper area. More comfort, more room.

B. Sprinter Cargo Vans will have a 8,550 or a 9,990 GVWR - the heavier 1 ton expediter will need to have a sub floor over the wheel wells, the entire inside floor. The longer the chassis the better. (Built in sleepers shortening cargo freight load space is discouraged but we will accept). Use the entire expedited cargo area as a sleeper area. More comfort, more room.

C. Cube Cargo Vans: 3/4 ton HD or better, preferably with flat floors / no wheel well or fuel tank obstructions.

D. Expediter Straight trucks with sleepers, ICC Bumpers (best) and landing gear (optional). 102 x 102 boxes are preferred with min. of 96“ tall door openings (for forklifts accessibility). Any length is fine.

E. Tractors: 3 axle

F. Trailers: 48 or 53’ air ride.

All expedite vehicles need cargo harnessing equipment, straps and / or load bars. Rust free & mechanically sound is a must. DOT Inspections on over 10,000# GVW units.

Satellite Expenses

Most expediting carriers mandate this equipment which benefits the carrier but charges you, the expediting driver.

THERE ARE NO SATELLITES AT Midwest Expediting. This is a huge annual cost savings! For you the driver and no holes punched into your roof. Satellites are also called "Globes" or Qual Comm's". Join an expedited carrier that does NOT force you to have a satellite so you can save on this expense.

This avoids installation and removal fees, not to mention weekly rental fees.

If your expedite carrier tells you that the Qual Comm is free, it may be, but your getting a reduced per mile rate most likely, paying for it in a round about way anyhow.

Estimated Dead Head Miles Between Expedite Loads

Dead Head Pay?

We do not pay deadhead pay. Typically you will pick up within 30-70 to Miles of home (depending on which state your home is in) or within 30-70 miles of your last load / current location. These estimates are NOT written in stone, but a fairly accurate distance based on our methods & procedures. You will at times also travel less than 30 and over 70 miles to get your expedite load.

Excess dead head miles are sometimes paid at full rate after 50 miles (to pick up a load) when we can bill extra to the shipper to compensate the extra travel. When dead head is unusually far, we normally have extra compensation that we, the expedited carrier will kick in. This is negotiated by your assigned expedited freight dispatchers with company management oversight.

No Haz Mat / Canada unless it is desired

Currently we do not mandate you to haul Haz-Mat material. Canada deliveries are not mandatory with us either. We prefer our drivers to remain in the U.S.A. simply due to the sheer volume of our U.S. freight without having to go elsewhere.

We are not an approved Canadian carrier.

How long does it take to get started with my new expediting job if I am new to expediting?

It takes as little as 24 hours. As soon as you have the required items to get started, we can schedule you as early as the next day (if your from another expedite carrier) or the following Tuesday. If your new, we will coach you to get the required items to operate and schedule you for the normally scheduled orientation each Tuesday.Industry

How long does it take to get started with my expediting job after I switch expedited Carriers?

If your already with another expedite carrier and they are under performing for you, we could start you in as little as 24 –36 hours by us preparing an emergency orientation for you. If your skilled in expediting, we will do this for you so you don’t have to wait the normal 3-7 days for our normal once weekly orientation. If your leaving another carrier, to ease your transition in some circumstances, we can also put you on an immediate payroll receipt program within 7 days. We can also give you daily fuel advances for the first 2 weeks to ease your transition in some circumstances. This will offset your having to wait for your final settlement at your old expedited carrier.

If your already de-identified, we can start you the next day under our “Carrier Improvement Program”.

Your biggest issues will be removing the other expedite carriers logo or decals and removing their qual comm.

While your coordinating this, we will make emergency preparations to get you started immediately after that is accomplished.
